Before I came into Al-Anon, I didn't know I had choices. I thought that things "happened to me" because of what someone else did or didn't do. By working the the Steps, applying the Traditions,
and talking things over with my sponsor and others in the program, I can now see that my actions
(or lack of action) resulted in consequences.
Today, I am learning to take responsibility for my actions and the consequences of the choices I make. It isn't always easy, but I have
a sponsor, program friends, and the the loving guidance of a power greater than myself to help me make those choices. Today, I have Al-Anon and that gives me hope.

Coming into Al-Anon has been a wonderful experience for me.
In the beginning I was afraid and fearful of almost
everything. Al-Anon has helped me with my fears and has
changed me for the better. I was fortunate enough and
got support from others who understood how I felt.
Eventually, I began to take baby-steps & risks - like
setting up, chairing a meeting and even speaking at other
meetings. My biggest step was becoming an Alateen Sponsor.
What a great service to do. The teens helped me much more
than I can say. They were a blessing. It is true when I
heard "work it - your worth it !" Thanks, Alanon.
